A number of years ago, we did a similar thing, taking nine months to travel through a bit of Europe, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia. Our kids were also 10 and 12 for a large part of that time.
I heartily agree with your ‘why we did it’ above. It is an absolute gift that you’ve given your family, one that you will have to share together for the rest of your lives.
I look back at pictures of the four of us and wonder, where did those little boys go?

We are travelling as a family (We are from just outside Ottawa, Canada in Chelsea, Quebec) now and find ourselves retracing some of your steps through NZ, SE Asia, Nepal, Turkey and Europe. Currently we are in Bali till near the end of Feb. when we head to Vietnam so we have been eagerly using your site to plan our next steps.

Really appreciate the photos and entries as these help our kids visualize and become more comfortable with where they are going next. It is also great to know that other people are doing this as a family for some of the same reasons we are!

All the best to you and your family as you re-integrate into life back at home. We know this will come all too soon for us as well.
